Join our Greenhouse Labour Team, the 1st step in the process of Farm to Table. 

This fulltime permanent position is comprised of working directly with the plants: from planting, crop maintenance to harvest, and other duties as required.  No education or experience required.  We train on site.  Personal transportation is a must as this is a rural location.  It is a greenhouse environment so at times, especially in summer months, the atmosphere can be hot and humid.  Weekday and weekend availability is required: 40-55hrs per week @ $15.50/hr.   This position can be physically demanding; crouching, kneeling, bending, able to stand for extended periods, ability to lift a minimum of 40lbs, and able to do repetitive tasks is essential.

Join our Warehouse Produce Pack Team, the 2nd step in the process of Farm to Table

This fulltime permanent position is comprised of working in a climate-controlled warehouse, packing fresh produce.  No education or experience required.  We train on site.  Personal transportation is a must as this is a rural location.  Weekday and weekend availability is required: 40-55/hrs per week @ $15.50/hr.   Responsibilities can include but not limited to:  grading and packing fresh produce into the appropriate containers, ensuring size, quality and labelling are correct and adhering to both Health and Safety and Food Safety policies. Cleaning and sanitization of contact surfaces/machines, maintain a clean work area, report damages or mechanical issues to Supervisor. Other duties as required. This position can be physically demanding; crouching, kneeling, bending, able to stand for extended periods, ability to lift a minimum of 40lbs, able to do repetitive tasks, manual dexterity and attention to detail is essential.

Summary for Warehouse Supervisor position:

The Warehouse Supervisor is a multi-faceted, independent and collaborative, vital role facilitating all aspects of the Warehouse area within the organization.  This position works in cooperation with General Laborers, Quality and Efficiency, Machine and Fork lift Operators, Production Line Leads, Greenhouse Labour Supervisors and Senior Management.  The main objective of this position is to ensure that production and other processes within the warehouse are meeting target goals including standards for quality, safety, and employee performance while cultivating a positive and dynamic team environment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Supervision: Daily supervision of production and warehouse employees by planning, delegating, motivating and leading the teams to improve performance, and efficiency; ensuring quality standards and adhering to safety protocols
  • Training: Ensure all workers are properly trained on all proper work task procedures including health and safety/food safety policies and procedures
  • Communication: Collaborating with Labour Supervisor and Warehouse Leads to ensure proper allocation of staff and work tasks
  • Quality Checks: reviewing daily work orders and ensuring packs are completed according to pack instructions and customer specifications; Monitor quality; proper labels and packaging, stickers, counts etc.
  • Maintenance: Monitoring production machines for maintenance issues, performing minor repairs as needed reporting all other issues to Senior Management to ensure repairs are handled proactively; Identify and make suggestions toward preventative maintenance and process improvement
  • House Keeping; Maintaining and completing pre-operational and post cleaning procedure checklists for warehouse production machinery and area; ensuring machines are ready before the start of production
  • Inventory: Overseeing inventory of packaging materials etc., and re-ordering as required
  • Administrative: complete required paperwork
  • Other duties as required

Job Requirements:

  • One year supervisory experience preferably in the greenhouse industry
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must be a team player and able to effectively lead and direct the work of others
  • Ability to work under pressure or tight and changing critical deadlines in a fast paced environment
  • Mechanical/repair aptitude a definite asset
  • Attention to detail
  • Must be available to work fluctuating hours as needed to meet the needs of ongoing business
  • Must be available to work 6 days a week with rotating weekends.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Broad scope of Greenhouse work tasks: planting, picking, crop maintenance, clean out
  • Supervision: Daily supervision of greenhouse labour teams by planning, delegating, motivating and leading the teams to improve performance, and efficiency; ensuring quality standards and adhering to safety protocols
  • Training: Ensure all workers are properly trained on all proper work task procedures including health and safety/food safety policies and procedures
  • Communication: Collaborating with Labour Manager and Warehouse Supervisors to ensure proper allocation of staff and work tasks
  • Quality and Efficiency checks–Ensure tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner while paying close attention to quality/specs of cucumbers
  • Pest/Disease Management: Aid in pest monitoring and helping staff identify pest and disease problems

  • Administrative: complete required paperwork
  • Other duties as required
